On July 14, 2026, the Minimum Wage
Commission set the minimum wage for 2027 at KRW 10,700 per hour. This
represents an increase of KRW 380, or 3.7%, from the 2026 minimum wage of KRW
10,320.
The minimum wage applies uniformly
throughout the country, and a single minimum wage rate applies to all
industries. Employers that fail to comply with the minimum wage requirement
must pay the shortfall retroactively, and the same standard must be applied to
all other employees.
The minimum wage is based on ordinary wages. However, one
difference is that performance-based bonuses may also be included when
determining compliance with the minimum wage.
